What does the process entail

REFFERAL (either by another healthcare professional, teacher or a self-initiated referral by parents) due to CONCERNS related to the child’s development/functional participation in daily activities.

Initial communication with the Occupational Therapist/practice and SCHEDULING of a parent consultation and/or Occupational Therapy ASSESSMENT.

UNIQUELY TAILORED ASSESSMENT regarding the child (which can include the following: one-on-one assessment, parent- and teacher questionnaires and a school visit).

Interpretations and RECOMMENDATIONS made in the form of a report and parent FEEDBACK session.

Recommendations are discussed with team members with parental consent and may include environmental adaptations at school. THERAPEUTIC GOAL SETTING is also conducted collaboratively as a team.

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY INTERVENTION, by means of one-on-one or group therapy, parent education and session feedback, home programmes etc. based on the identified need.

Monitoring of PROGRESS, performing progress assessments and eventual DISCHARGE when therapy goals have been met.
