Who is Lanese Knipe Occupational Therapy?
Lanése Knipe Occupational Therapy Incorporated is a private practice owned and managed by Lanése Knipe-Pitout. We render occupational therapy services in the form of assessment and treatment for peadiatric clients with pervasive development, thus diagnoses including general developmental delays, autism spectrum disorders, visual perceptual problems, concentration difficulties, dyslexia, sensory integration problems, etc. Children do not need a formal diagnosis to receive occupational therapy services at our practice.
Our Practice Director, Lanése Knipe-Pitout, completed her BOcc Ther at Stellenbosch University in 2013. She completed her community service year in 2014 at Far East Rand Government Hospital in Benoni (Gauteng) and thereafter worked as an Occupational Therapist in Worcester and Ceres in the Western Cape, providing hand rehabilitation therapy in Worcester Mediclinic and pediatric therapy in Ceres, until May 2015. Lanése opened her own private practice in June 2015, as an in-house therapist at Huguenot Primary School in Wellington as well as at Huis Andrew Murray Child and Youth Care Centre.
With the practice expanding quickly, Lanése employed a second Occupational Therapist to assist with the growing clientele and thus opened a second therapy room to service clients from the broader Wellington/Paarl community. The rapid increase in clientele and need for occupational therapy services, lead to the appointment of a Practice Assistant in February 2018 and another therapist in January 2020, after she opened another therapy room (in-house at Bridge House Independent School, Franschhoek).
During her first few years of managing her own private practice, Lanése became an accredited Clinical Supervisor for Stellenbosch University’s Occupational Therapy Department. She also served as Chairperson of the Western Cape Pediatric Practitioners’ Group (WCPPG) for several years, before handing over the reins to focus on growing her own practice.
Since the beginning of the practice when Lanése was practicing solo, the practice has branched out and now operates across four main locations: Huguenot Primary School (Wellington), 4 Berg Street (Wellington), Bridge House Independent School (Franschhoek) and Technopark (Stellenbosch). Additionally, we are contracted for therapeutic services at four NGOs in the Western Cape: Huis Andrew Murray Child and Youth Care Centre (Wellington), Aitsa! Aftercare Centre (Kylemore), Sunfield Homes (Wellington) as well as The Els for Autism Foundation (Claremont and Eerste Rivier).

Our Mission
We provide Occupational Therapy services to enable children to optimally participate during activities of daily life, as a client-centred health profession within the distinct South African context. Advocacy, awareness and education in collaboration with team members is of utmost importance to achieve the most optimal outcome for our clients. We aim to support the child, caregiver and colleagues involved by empowering them with the necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes to enhance the child’s development. Our objectives include supporting the child holistically while facilitating a team approach to ensure that the child is functioning to the best of his or her abilities within his or her environments where occupations are executed.
